Do you want to use onion for your hair problems but are sceptical to use due to time, smell or convenience? Look no further, I have got here Ryaal Onion Intense Clarity Shampoo which provides an easy way to use onion for your hair without spending a lot of time, effort or money.
Benefits of onion for hair
Onion, especially red onion, is rich in sulfur. Sulfur is one of the most common mineral in the body. It is needed for the production of enzymes and proteins including keratin, the building block of hair. One of the best way to use onion for hair is applying onion juice on scalp. But this can be messy, time-consuming and difficult to maintain over time.
Onion shampoo can help here as they contain onion as one of the active ingredient which provides an easy way to use onion sans all the inconveniences.
Ryaal Onion Fusion Intense Clarity Shampoo
From the house of Ryaal, manufacturer of essential oils, comes this shampoo infused with onion which is a powerhouse of benefits for hair.
Along with onion, this shampoo boasts of an impressive ingredients’ list including aloe vera, methi (fenugreek), and essential oils like neem and basil. Lets read on to find out how this fared for me.
Packaging
The shampoo is purple in colour and comes in a transparent bottle. This combination gives a very vibrant and chic look to the entire package.
The bottle has a black label depicting all the details. Front of the bottle contains an image and name. Back of the bottle contains product details like usage instructions, ingredients etc.
The bottle has a nozzle which is supposed to dispense an adequate amount of product. Unfortunately, the nozzle of my bottle was very hard and would only dispense very little amount. So I used to open the entire cap to take out enough amount (I seem to be having multiple issues with shampoo caps!).
Yes, I’m writing this review after completely finishing the bottle. This review was pending for long.
Claims
As per company claims, this is a rich infusion of onion to remove impurities and give intensely clean hair.
Ingredients
This comes jam-packed with lots of natural ingredients like onion, neem, curry, hibiscus, aloe vera, methi etc. Only issue I found was, it is marked as Key Ingredients. It would have been good if the complete list of ingredients was given.
Usage Instruction
Shampoo consistency
The shampoo has mid runny consistency, meaning it is neither too thick nor too runny. Since I could not get enough amount out of the nozzle, I had to open the rotate cap and swipe the shampoo from the pump pipe. Due to this, I could not dilute it properly in a glass. I tried it once but ended up taking out way more than the required amount.
Fragrance
Surprisingly the fragrance is quite pleasant and it does not smell at all like onions(thank goodness !).
The smell lingers for some time even after wash and stays till another day.
Price
This is on the high end of under Rs 500 shampoo range, costing 449 Rs for 200 ml.
Availability
This is available on Amazon. I could not find it on Flipkart even though essential oils from the same brand are available there.
My experience with Ryaal Onion shampoo
Ryaal onion shampoo makes it easier to incorporate onion in our hair routine. As already noted, onions are very beneficial to hair due to their rich sulfur content.
I could not get enough quantity dispensed through the nozzle. So I open the cap and swipe the pump pipe once in all the parts of my scalp to ensure the entire scalp is covered. Then I take some water in my palms and pour it on my head, diluting the shampoo and spreading it throughout my head.
It spreads easily and covers the entire scalp and my short hair length. I massage my head for a minute and then wash it off with cold water.
It gives good lather and washes off easily without using too much water. I have used this on oil as well as non-oiled hair as part of my hair growth boost routine. It removed the oil in one wash and did not dry my hair excessively on non-oiled hair wash.
Generally, it is recommended to use a conditioner after hair wash, and this shampoo is no different. A good conditioner is a must with this shampoo. After conditioning and air dry, my hair is soft and it stays like that for two days.
One thing though, I got pimples and back acne while using this shampoo. It caused me a lot of itching which stopped once I stopped using this shampoo.
Regarding claims, this shampoo did not stop or cause major hair fall. I didn’t observe any hair growth while using this so I don’t think hair growth claims are true. I can’t comment about dandruff and split ends as I don’t have it right now.
All in all, I will say, this is an average shampoo which provides some softness to hair. I had expected better results from this considering the impressive ingredients’ list.
Recommendation
Give this one a try if you are looking for an easy way to include onion in your hair care routine. Beware of back acne though.
Repurchase
Maybe not. More than hair growth, I had problem with back acne caused by this shampoo. It was pretty embarrassing to scratch the back while in public.
Rating
3.5 spoons of happiness.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Ryaal Onion Fusion Intense Clarity Shampoo is like another shampoo even though packed with impressive ingredients list. It did not stand true to its claim of hair growth or minimizing hair breakage. Give this a try if you are suffering from dry hair and want to add some softness to your hair.
