Hey there, today I’m back with another Mamaearth product review. This time it is one of their fairly new product. This one is Mamaearth Onion Hair Serum Review.

I have frizzy prone hair and am always on the lookout for good hair serums. Having used various products from Mamarearth already, when they launched this hair serum, I happily grabbed it. So, let’s find out how it worked for me.
About the product
This hair serum is from Mamaearth’s onion haircare range. They offer hair oil, shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and now, this hair serum. I have already used shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask from the same range.
Mamaearth Onion Hair Serum Review
Here are the details about this hair serum.
Packaging
This hair serum comes in a white pump bottle. The bottle has double layer protection, with an outer and an inner cap to prevent leakage or contamination.
The double protection also makes it safe to carry during travels. It is leak-proof and easy to carry.
I’m not sure about the quality of the caps, especially, outer cap. The day I received the bottle, it slipped from my hand and the outer cap cracked completely. I was disappointed with the quality of the cap, to say the least.
The bottle is printed with standard Mamaearth colors of blue and green. All the important details about the product are printed on the bottle.
Claims
This hair serum claims to reduce frizz, hair breakage, and make hair soft and shiny.
This serum claims to be suitable for all hair types, including colored and chemically treated hair.

It is also suggested to use it only on lengths of the hair.
Texture and Fragrance
This serum has a texture similar to hair conditioner from the same range. It has a pearly, translucent, gel-like consistency. The smell is similar to other products from this range with slight jasmine smell which fades post-application.
The consistency of this hair serum is such that it spreads easily on hair. The hand feels sticky for a short time, but then it dries off completely and does not need a ton of water to get clean hands.

Rs 299 for 100 ml.

My review of Mamaearth onion hair serum
I have been using this serum for almost 3 weeks now. I use it after hair wash, when my hair is damp. It helps in combing my hair and adds little bit of shine to it.
It spreads equally well on damp as well as dry hair. When used on dry hair, hair becomes little oily after some time.
Now, coming to the claims, I did not see any difference in my hair after using this serum. This serum does not help in reducing frizz, or hair breakage. Of all the claims, I would say it meets only adding shine claim.
I suffer from tangles, and this serum did not really help with it. The hair breakage, due to tangles, is still the same.
Mamaearth Onion Hair Serum Benefits
- Nice ingredients- packed with onion, biotin, olive oil, it has a nice list of ingredients
- Silicone-free – this serum is free of silicones
- Packaging – leal-proof, and travel friendly packaging
- Adds little shine to hair
- Refreshing smell- dissipates after application
Cons
- Does not reduce tangles
- Does not reduce hair breakage
- No difference in hair structure.
- Does not reduce frizz
- Expensive
Recommendation
Try this hair serum if you are looking for a silicone-free alternative, and need little moisturizing. This may not work for you if your hair needs heavier moisturization.
Repurchase
I’m going to skip this hair serum considering it did not help me with frizz or breakage, or tangles.
Rating
2/5 spoons of happiness.
Conclusion
My bitter-sweet relationship with Mamaearth hair products continues with Mamaearth onion hair serum. As seen in this Mamaearth Onion Hair serum review, even though packed with some good ingredients, this serum did not work for my hair.
Have you used this serum? How was your experience? Let’s share in comments.
Till next time, stay beautiful!

After applying mamaearth Onion hair serum my scalp is burning
Neha says
Serums should not be applied to the scalp. This should be applied on damp hair preferably hair ends.
Kayna says
Hi, loved the review. I had a query, I’ve accidentally applied this serum to my scalp. I just wanted to know if this serum can be harmful if one did so. Hoping for a response❤
Neha says
Hi, glad you liked the review, it made my day 🙂 For one-off use, applying on the scalp won’t cause any harm. Your next hair wash should remove it, so you are good. But I would still suggest monitoring to see if you have any adverse reactions.Wash it with shampoo in case you observe any reaction.

Best detailed review otherwise i see all the copy paste reviews of mamaearth which are really doubtful and the products are expensive and not upto the mark.
Neha says
Thanks, happy to know the review was helpful

Could you please suggest a chemical free serum for frizzy wavy hair
Neha says
Hi, if you want to avoid chemicals, you can go for herbal hair serum. You can also try natural oils, use a few drops of argan oil on the ends. It will help to reduce the frizz. Also, try using a silk cap while sleeping. It really helps to reduce the frizz.

Hi.
Yes I have. On my completely dried hair. And it did work for me but not up to the mark. I am soon going to post my experience on my blog.
Anyway, I like this review. Keep going. ????????
Good luck.
Neha says
Hi Rajini, yes it works to an extent. But not up to the mark or anything great. Have had a better experience with other serums.
