Hi there! Hope you are doing great. Today I’m going to review Mamaearth Overnight Repair Night Cream. I have been using it for some time now, and here is my experience of the same.

Company History

Mamaearth is owned by a couple, who started it after the birth of their kid. And I I found it after the birth of my daughter when I was looking for safer products for babies. Since then, I have been using Mamaearth products for my daughter. They have now expanded into beauty products for adults as well, and I have mostly had good experiences with their products. I have already reviewed their shampoo, conditioner, detangler and sunscreen.

Which brings us to the importance of a night cream.

Why use a Night Repair Cream?

Night cream is an essential step in the skincare routine. Whole day our skin is exposed to dust, sun, pollution and other damaging factors. When we sleep at night, our skin recovers from that damage. The skin’s ability to absorb active ingredients is maximum at night so using a good night cream at this time will ensure most of the beneficial ingredients are absorbed.

Moreover, the active ingredients in these creams ensure that it helps in moisture retention and repairing the damage caused during the day.

Aqua, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Biosaccharide Gum, Monostearate, Alpha-D-Glucopyranoside, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Sodium PCA, Collagen, Daisy Flower Extract, Geranium Essential Oil, Potassium Sorbate and Saffron Extract.

How do you use Mamaearth Night Cream

Take a pea-sized amount of cream on your fingertips. Cleanse your face and apply dots all over the face and neck and massage in circular motion before going to bed. The cream will cause a slight tingling sensation which is a part of the healing process.

It comes in a white bottle with a pump to dispense the product. It has a transparent cap which ensures the pump does not get dirty.

Smell

This cream has a slight smell of essential oils. It is not overpowering, neither too chemical-y nor too herbal-y. The smell doesn’t stay for long and fades off after application.

Texture

It has a lotion-like consistency, neither too runny nor too thick. Due to this, it feels very light and is absorbed very easily. As mentioned in usage instructions, it does give a tingling sensation when applied but that goes off within a couple of minutes.

Personal Experience

I have been using this cream for more than a month now and I have almost finished off one bottle.

Suitable For

This night cream absorbs beautifully and does not feel heavy on the skin. It did not break me out so that’s a big plus and I will recommend this to oily skin people as well.

Effectiveness

As mentioned in the texture, mamaearth night cream has a light consistency and is absorbed easily in the skin. I applied this cream after washing my face in the night and left it till morning. I observed, area around my nose was dry in the morning. After a couple of nights, while applying this cream, I mixed two drops of rose essential oil to this cream. This worked beautifully, and the next morning my skin was properly moisturized and looked soft.

This is good for oily skin people and even for my combi skin during summers; but in winters, I found it to inadequate on its own.

Regarding its claim of whitening and firming, I didn’t find any changes in my skin as such. It was just moisturized but didn’t add any other whitening or firming difference.

5. Does not break out so suitable for oily and acne-prone skin too

Cons

2. The nose bridge area was dry in the morning so may not be enough for dry skin

Recommendation

This is a decent night cream with pretty good active ingredients. I would recommend this if you are looking for a good, light night cream. I would recommend this to oily and combination skin types, dry skin people may find this too dry.

Repurchase

I may repurchase this one in summers as the light moisturization may be enough at that time. I will give this a miss in winters as it is not enough on its own for my skin.
